The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
26th July – 14th October 2012
A family musical with wit, half-wits and a massive seagull!
“It is an ancient Mariner, And he stoppeth one in three”
The bunting is up, the tables have been laid and the guests are arriving. The scene is set for the wedding of the century. But who is that strange old man in the corner with the far-away look in his eye?
Join Shanty Theatre Company on an epic voyage with this entirely new re-imagining of the nautical classic, with storms, holy hermits, a ghostly galleon, silly sailors, live original music and an albatross with a passion for five-a- side football.
“Water, water everywhere,
And all the boards did shrink,
Water, water everywhere,
Nor any drop to drink”
Shanty Theatre Company has turned this well-known tale upside down and given it a good shake to see what comes out of its pockets.
Expect music, japes and a darn good yarn for all the family.
“The show is a recipe for sell-out sucess” – View From Lyme Regis
“Lots of fun, music and invention” – Blackmore Vale
At the Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis.
